Love Finally Won!

I first met Hannah & Chris back in 2019...we were all looking forward to a spring 2020 wedding at The Botanical Gardens in Birmingham...well I think we all know where this is going....life had different plans in the shape of a pandemic which has meant this lovely pair had to postpone a number of times and change up plans. Finally though the big day came through on July 2021 and the sun shone down at the Botanical Gardens and Gorcott Hall.

Hannah and her fabulous bridesmaid Katie and Hannah's Mum all got ready at The High Field House Hotel in Birmingham, which is a fabulously designed boutique hotel. A very chilled morning with the biggest smiles ensued which set everyone up perfectly for the day. Katie helped Hannah into her beautiful dress and we got to do a very special first reveal to Hannah's Dad, Mum and Nan....I always cry at this point!

On to the Botanical gardens and through their glass houses into the ceremony room, the pair swapped vows under a beautiful homemade flower arch with friends and family smiling on. The gardens and it's giant glass house lent itself perfectly as a unique backdrop. Hannah and Chris genuinely did not stop smiling and were so easy to capture as they giggled away!

Next up we headed to Gorcott Hall (yes I may have got slightly lost on route, despite the couples best attempt at drilling the directions into me!) which is a hidden gem in the form of a rustic country house which has been lovingly renovated by its current owners. Steeped in history with incredible beams, brickwork and fab terrace, it is a beautiful intimate venue.

Hannah and Chris pulled up in an original camper van and hadn't left anything out, having got the venue decked out with wonderful personal touches. The whole atmosphere during the reception was buzzing....finally bigger weddings were in full flow!

With the guests fed and watered and some lovely heartfelt speeches delivered I spotted the most beautiful golden hour light just as desserts were being served....I couldn't let it pass so I tapped Hannah on the shoulder and asked to drag the pair out for golden hour portraits. They were totally up for it and we captured some lovely moments in the last of the evening light.... my favourite light and I will always ask couples to take a moment to enjoy it, as it makes the prettiest portraits!

As we lost the light, cake cutting and first dance was to be carried out outside....I closed my eyes as the guys carried the beautiful cake outside...luckily all in one piece! The terrace was a perfect spot for the couple to enjoy the first dance as man and wife followed by Hannah and her Dad hitting the dance floor. The bride and her pals then totally tore up the dancefloor to Wilson Philips 'Hold On' reminiscent to the final scene of the film 'Bridesmaids'...I loved it!!

Hannah and Chris thank you for choosing me to capture your special day and the patience you have shown despite plans having to change. You really were the happiest kindest couple and I thoroughly enjoyed such a beautiful day with you both. Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness! x
